"When I was first diagnosed, my doctor said it was unfortunate I had bad genes, gave me a prescription, and told me to watch what I ate. Every time I went back, he gave me more medicine. How much better my diabetes could have been controlled if I had read this book then.
Bedingfield explains what diabetes is and how it affects the body in such an easy-to-read, easy-to-understand style. Other books focus on the food part, and somewhere at the end, they say we should exercise. We all KNOW it's important, but this book explains in detail WHY it's important.
I know that many, many people will be healthier and happier when they read (and heed) this book." - Barbara Bennett
"Milt Bedingfield's book Prescription for Type 2 Diabetes EXERCISE is a well written, highly informative and delightfully entertaining exposition. Drawbacks to reading this unique directive would include developing an aversion to certain pieces of furniture including most notably the heretofore nonnotorious couch and accompanying television. Mr Bedingfield's work is enough to inspire even the least active to get up and move. He also inspires those who are active to be more so. As a physician, I found his explanations of human physiology to be clear and easily understood. His ability to combine education with humor and self-deprecation makes for wonderful reading. I can only imagine how entertaining Milt must be in the classroom. I highly recommend his book to all." - John Butterick
I have been an avid exerciser off and on for much of my life, for fun, but recently I have used exercise with the express purpose of lowering my weight. I alsohave a strong family history of diabetes and do not want to be the next one in my familyto be struck with this problem. Therefore, I read Milt Bedingfield's book with much interest.
I am also a ohysician and sometimes I do consel patients about diabetes, though I am a surgeon.
The book is very easy to read and understand and with its relaxed casual writing style and with the associated pictures seems to be perfect for patients. In fact it was great for me as well.
I enjoyed the book particularly because Milt's writing style created his "classroom" in my mind and created images of Milt walkingaround andkind of looking at each of "us students" in the class in order to make sure we were all following hs ideas. I wasavery pleasurable experience. I plan to purchase this book formy brother and for my brother-in-law who both have Type 2 diabetes and shouldboth gets their duffs off the couch. - Mel Saraceno
